The Shire of Chapman Valley is a Local Government Area located in the Mid West region of Western Australia, immediately northeast of the city of Geraldton and about convert|440|km|mi|0 north of Perth, the state capital. The Shire covers an area of convert|3965|km2|sqmi|0 and its seat of government is the small town of Nabawa.

History

The Upper Chapman Road Board was established in 1901. In 1958, it was renamed to Chapman Valley Road Board and on 1 July 1961, it became a Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act. [WA Electoral Commission, "Municipality Boundary Amendments Register" (release 2.0), 31 May 2003.]
