Fairfax County, Virginia .The road starts in Herndon where it ends at the
Fairfax County Parkway (SR 7100). The road is known as Stringfellow Road, its next notable junction is withU.S. Route 50 , or Lee Jackson Memorial Highway. Throughout this part the road's speed limit is 35 M.P.H. There still be called Stringfellow Road, it serves as a border between Chantilly and Fairfax zip codes. The road passes through Greenbriar where it junctions with Virginia State Route 662, or Poplar Tree Road. It then drives by Fair Lakes' extreme western end where the Fair Lakes Parkway (SR 7900) ends at its western terminus, then the road widens from two to four lanes and the speed limit increases from 35 to 45 M.P.H. The road heads into Centreville where it junctions withU.S. Route 29 or called Lee Highway.The road remains four lanes and the speed limit remains 45 M.P.H., but the road changes names to Clifton Road. The road enters a Clifton zip code heading southbound. After about half a mile the road makes a junction with the locally famous Braddock Road. After the the traffic light, the road reduces lanes from four to two lanes, although the speed limit remains 45 M.P.H. After passing by the Twin Lakes Golf Course, the road junctions with State Route 654, or Popes Head Road and enters a rather
equestrian area for about 3 miles before reaching town limits. Once passing by Clifton corporate limits the road's speed limit decreases from 45 M.P.H. to 25 M.P.H. as the road serves as the main street through the town. There it makes an intersection with Chapel and Kincheloe roads before it veers off out of town, and the speed limit increases to 35 M.P.H. again.There it passed State Route 643 (Henderson Road) which draws heavy traffic because it is the only bridge between Route 28 and Route 123 to cross into Prince William County, thus creating a back connection with Clifton and Manassas. Still being called Clifton Road it makes a junction at Makely's Corner, a four way stop sign crossing, with State Route 610 (Wolf Run Shoals Road] . After the junction the road still being called Clifton Road head east bound, but now enters Fairfax Station and leaves Clifton. The road goes until it junctions with Route 123 at a at grade traffic signal.
The road continues but changes names from Clifton Road to Burke Lake Road, the road remains two lanes but the speed limit increases to 40 M.P.H. The road drives by
Burke Lake Regional Park . There it makes a junction with theFairfax County Parkway . Burke Lake Road continues and widens from two lanes to four lanes, although the speed limit remains 40 M.P.H. It meets with Route 643 again but it's now called Burke Center Parkway heading west and Lee Chapel Road heading east. The road leaves Fairfax Station and entersBurke, Virginia . Burke Lake Road remains four lanes and makes a major intersection with Route 652 and after there it remains four lanes but the speed limit decreases to 35 M.P.H. It passes by theLake Braddock Secondary School and then leaves Burke when it junctions with Route 638 (Rolling Road), and enters Springfield briefly. Burke Lake Road ultimately ends in Annandale when it ends at the famous Braddock Road. The road continues to be Wooland Way, but its now route 6582.peed limit
