Summer Meridian is a part of the solstice meridiator at which the celestial longitude 90° (+90°) (6h). On the celestial map, Summer Meridian is located in the center of the right side (eastern hemisphere) as a vertical line that runs from north pole to south pole.
The alternative names for Summer Meridian are Morn Meridian, June Meridian, First point of Cancer Meridian, Taurus Meridian, and Orion Meridian.
When Summer Meridian passes through the equator, it will intersect and form morn virgin as a perpendicular bisector in constellation Orion. When Summer Meridian passes through the ecliptic also, then it will intersect and form summer solstice. The sun passes the summer solstice or northern ecliptic peak on June 21 or 22 and mark the start of the summer. The south ecliptic pole is located on this meridian at celestial latitude −66.56°, located in constellation Dorado.
These meridional constellations are best visible at nadir on December 21 or 22 because these overhead constellations are least affected by the sun and thus the darkest part of the night. These constellations are as following from north pole to south pole (decreasing declination or celestial latitude).
