2004 Summer Olympics
Galiazzo competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first three elimination matches, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Galiazzo faced Vic Wunderle of the United States, defeating Wunderle 109–108 in the 12-arrow match and advancing to the semifinals. There, he faced Laurence Godfrey of Great Britain, defeating Godfrey 110–108. Galiazzo then competed against Hiroshi Yamamoto of Japan in the gold medal match, winning 111–109 to earn the gold medal. He was also a member of the 7th-place Italian men's archery team at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
2008 Summer Olympics
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Galiazzo finished his ranking round as the defending champion with a total of 667 points, twelve points behind leader Juan René Serrano. This gave him the 12th seed for the final competition bracket in which he faced Niels Dall in the first round, beating the Danish 114–97. In the second round the Olympic champion was defeated by British Alan Wills by 110–109.[1]
Together with Ilario Di Buò and Mauro Nespoli he also took part in the team event. With his 667 score from the ranking round combined with the 670 of Di Buò and the 649 of Nespolio the Italians were in sixth position after the ranking round. In the first round they were too strong for the Canadian team 219–217. They advanced to the semi final by eliminating Malaysia 218–213. After that they reached the final by beating Ukraine 223–221. In the final they managed to get 225 points, but South Korea took the gold medal with 227 points.[1]
