Chulman (Russian: Чульман) is a urban-type settlement in the Sakha Republic, Russia, located on the Chulman River, approximately 30 km north of Neryungri. It is served by Chulman Airport and is a station on the Amur Yakutsk Mainline.
Employment in the town is mainly reliant on the mining of coal, granite and gemstones, as well as a power station.
Chulman was founded with 19 inhabitants in 1926. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, the settlement was the location for a gulag work camp. Population: 10,782 (2002 Census); 17,354 (1989 Census). There is a deep gorge to the east with white cliffs. For the general area, see Neryungri.
