The nominees for the 71st Academy Awards were announced on February 9 1999 by Academy president Robert Rehme and actor Kevin Spacey, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters. The winners were announced March 21 at a ceremony at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, California.
