Students in grades 9-12 from Woodlynne attend Collingswood High School as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Woodlynne School District. Students in grades 10-12 from Oaklyn attend the high school as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Oaklyn Public School District.[2]
As of the 2009-10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 807 students and 49 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student–teacher ratio of 16.47.[1]
The school was the 267th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 322 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2010 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 237th in 2008 out of 316 schools.[3] The school was ranked 235th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.[4]
Contents
Extracurricular activities
- The school is a host to a championship marching band. The Collingswood Panther Marching Band, under the direction of Joe Lerch, has captured titles for the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) All-States and New Jersey State Championships in the years 2004 and 2005, and participated in the National Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2009. The marching band has a membership of 46 members. The band finished fourth in their second National Championships appearance, competing as a Group II band at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland on November 16, 2007.[5] They have performed for the Philadelphia Phillies (3 times), the Philadelphia Phantoms, and were the honorary band for the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure on Mother's Day 2008. Most recently the Collingswood High School Panther Marching Band captured the 2010 Southern NJ Chapter 1, Group 2-A Championship award at the Tournament of Bands 2010 Chapters Championship competition held at the Williamstown High School on Sunday October 24, 2010.
- Clubs and Organizations at Collingswood High School include the Anime Club, Steppers Club, Spanish Club, German Club, French Club, Latin Club, Environmental Club, History Club, The Paw Print student paper, and Boys and Girls State.
Athletics
- Collingswood High School is a member school in the Colonial Conference, which is composed of small schools whose enrollments generally do not exceed between 750-800 students for grades 9-12.
- The Academic Challenge team is currently Ranked #1 in South Jersey.
- The 2007-08 girls basketball team won the Colonial Conference and South Jersey Group II championships.
- The 2007-08 boys basketball team won the Colonial Conference and South Jersey Group II championships.[citation needed]
- The 2007-08 wrestling team won the Colonial conference and South Jersey Group I championships.
- The field hockey team won the 2000 team won the South, Group II state sectional championship with a 2-1 win against Camden Catholic High School in the tournament final.[6][7] The 2004 field hockey team won the Group II state championship, defeating West Essex High School in the tournament final.[8]
- In 2006 the Collingswood wrestling team won their first South Jersey Group II Championship, defeating Cinnaminson High School by a final score of 43-17.[9]
