Cinnaminson High School is a four-year public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Cinnaminson Township in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Cinnaminson Township Public Schools. The grounds are approximately 26 acres (110,000 m2), including the land that the school is built on. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 1972.[2]

As of the 2009-10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 828 students and 61 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.57.[1]

The school was the 164th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 322 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2010 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 161st in 2008 out of 316 schools.[3] The school was ranked 137th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.[4]

Athletics

The Cinnaminson High School Pirates compete in the Patriot Division of the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL), sports association under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The league consists of nineteen public and non-public high schools covering Burlington County, Mercer County and Ocean County in central New Jersey. The coach of the School's football team is Mario Patrizi.

Cinnaminson High School competes in Varsity Tier II of the South Jersey High School Ice Hockey League.[5]

The first championship won by any of the school's athletic teams was in 1969 when the cross country team culminated a 12-1 meet record with a win at the Burlington County Scholastic League Cross Country Championship at Moorestown Memorial Field. As was typical of the team's group running style, CHS runners placed 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 15th, and 18th to post the low score for the event. Head Coach Gene Campbell was later inducted into the CHS Athletics Hall of Fame.

The soccer team won the 1999 South, Group II Group Semifinals, defeating Northern Burlington County Regional High School 4-2.[6] In 2002, the girls soccer team won the South, Group II title over Woodstown High School, by a 2-0 score.[7] The 2004 boys soccer team won the South, Group II championship, edging Haddon Township High School in the final, 1-0.[8] In 2007, the boys soccer team won the South Jersey Group II state sectional championship with a 4-1 win over Delran High School in the tournament final.[9]

The 2003 baseball team won its first South, Group II state sectional title with a 16-12 win against Manchester Township High School in the final game.[10][11]

In 2004, Cinnaminson running back and team co-captain Darrell "DJ" Riley set a single-game varsity football rushing record with 360 yards in only three quarters of play. He also had six touchdowns in his record performance.[12]

CHS Pirate Marching Band

The Cinnaminson High School Marching Band competes and performs at many events.

The members of the marching band perform at football games, their pep-band songs and half-time shows. In addition to a this, the band has a season of competitions within two Marching Band circuits: USSBA and Cavalcade of Bands. The band's director is Deb Knisely, who took over as head director in 2004. The band also marched in the national 4 July Parade in Washington, D.C. in 2006. in addition to the marching band the Color Guard also performs original choreography at the half time shows.

In 2008, the band, under the direction of Deb Knisley, went to Allentown, Pennsylvania for the USSBA Northern States Marching Band Championships. They placed 4th out of 14 according to yea.org and marchingbandcontest.com.
