Mathematics
Once a Mathematics and Computer Science Department, it is now the Mathematics Department after the disintegration of the popularity of
Pascal programming language and its course offering. The highest math course progression is geometry, Algebra II and Trigonometry, precalculus, andAP Calculus BC . Algebra I is offered at to the freshman class if it is not completed in Middle School.AP Calculus AB is offered, which most students prefer over the BC level of the course. Statistics is another course popularly taken by students who are not up for calculus. Peers taking the previously mentioned course line are in the accelerated learning program. Regular and modified variations of the above courses exist in their respective altered curricula. Students who feel the offered courses are not satisfactory in teaching new mathematical knowledge may consult the math department for an independent study or the skipping of courses. In such cases, independent study and online courses such as Multivariable calculus,Linear algebra ,Discrete mathematics are available to the advanced math student for the absence of a curriculum based math course after the early completion of Calculus BC or for the filling of a math class.cience
The science department offers the school a variety of science courses: Biology, Human Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, ACT (Advanced Chemistry Techniques), and Physics. A general survey class is also popular among freshmen who do not meet the requirements for Lab Biology.
The advanced courses, which students often double on, include:
AP Biology , Advanced Chemistry Techniques (AP), and Physics. The school is looking to expand the Advanced Placement science course offerings.Languages
English is taught in a highly efficient manner. College-bound students mostly take the advanced or honors program in English. Honors courses are considered tough, including many essays, term papers, timed essay and writing exams, vocabulary mastery programs, and the downing of approximately fifteen books a year. English course progression in general is: Honors English 9, American Literature, English Literature, and AP English. The two consecutive years of literature, though not Advanced Placement program based, will be sufficient in the preparation for the
AP English Literature and Composition exam.Courses in foreign languages are offered in addition to English. Latin and its derived romance languages are offered at the institute, which are Spanish, French, and German. Years 1 and 2 in the language are introductory years. Years 3 and 4 offer college course credit, being the equivalent of two years of an elementary language course in college. The credits are obtained through a $79 transaction via
Camden County College . The credits can be transferred to various colleges. Year 1 is usually completed in the last year of study in the Rohrer Middle School, the primary school associated with Haddon Township High School. Thus a year 5 foreign language course is possible, which is usually coined as "AP" though it is much more advanced than the AP curriculum. Some languages such as Latin do not offer year 5, as the year 5 course is contingent on the number of participating students. The everyday curriculum is offered to students who do not perform as well in the language courses.Humanities
The humanities curriculum consists of U.S. History in freshmen and sophomore years. Year one offers an advanced study program and year two offers an honors study program. Year three humanities course is
AP United States Government and Politics and year four is a mandatory World History course. Parallels is an elective offered, which examines the ties shared by history and literature.Vocational courses and the Arts
