One King's Way
1st edition (publ. Legend Books, UK)

One King's Way is the second part of the trilogy by Harry Harrison & John Holm that began in The Hammer and the Cross. The book was published in 1994.[1]

It tells of the lead character, Shef's, journeys into Scandinavia in search of the Spear of Destiny and his burgeoning rivalry with Bruno, a pious officer of the Holy Roman Empire. Mixing real history with fictitious characters the book sheds light on the documented events that helped to shape the modern world while spinning a yarn comparable to the Arthurian legends. The book was followed by the final part of the trilogy, King and Emperor.

Northwest Europe at the beginning of the novel. Territories held by Shef and Alfred are denoted in red; territories held by the Ragnarssons and their allies in green.
