The day use park is located about 2 miles (3 km) from Exit 139 ofI-79 , north ofFairmont, West Virginia in Marion County. Prickett's Fort features a re-createdfrontier fort that serves as aliving history reenactment of 18th century frontier life. The original Job Prickett House, built in 1859 [ [http://www.prickettsfort.org/ Prickett's Fort Memorial Foundation web site, accessed September 6, 2006] ] , sits a few feet outside thestockade walls of the fort. Prickett's Fort is the terminus for two
rail trail s open only to non-motorized travel. To the south, the 3-mile (5 km) longMarion County Trail (McTrail)connects Fairmont to the park. Morgantown is about convert|19|mi|km north of the park along theMon River Trail . The two trails, level and covered with a crushed gravel surface, are used by walkers,jogger s, and cyclists.ee also
