Prickett's Fort State Park is a 22 acre West Virginia state park, 0.088 km² [ [http://www.nrac.wvu.edu/gap/pub.htm Strager, J.M, and Yuill, C.B., "THE WEST VIRGINIA GAP ANALYSIS PROJECT FINAL REPORT", Appendix 4, Natural Resource Analysis Center, West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, 2002.] ] above the confluence of Prickett's Creek and the Monongahela River. The day use park is located about 2 miles (3 km) from Exit 139 of I-79, north of Fairmont, West Virginia in Marion County. Prickett's Fort features a re-created frontier fort that serves as a living history reenactment of 18th century frontier life. The original Job Prickett House, built in 1859 [ [http://www.prickettsfort.org/ Prickett's Fort Memorial Foundation web site, accessed September 6, 2006] ] , sits a few feet outside the stockade walls of the fort. The 19th century house provides a contrast to the frontier lifestyle displayed inside the fort's walls.
