Prominant Personalities
Ranga Reddy Kandala , a notable communist (Communist Party of India (Marxist)) leader hailed from Thumbavi village of this mandal. He dedicated his life for the upliftment of poor and supressed. He lead many agitations to improve the living standards of the people in this region. He was serving as the sarpanch of panthangi Gram panchayat, when he was brutally murdered by political opponents. He was killed on 22nd February 1985, while adressing a public meeting. He is inspiration for most of the current leaders, who are working to fulfill his dreams by walking in his foot steps.
