Population
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Arumuganeri had a population of 24,801. Males constitute 47% of the population and females 53%. Arumuganeri has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 49% of the males and 51% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Schools like Hindu higher secondary school, K.A.Higher secondary school,Kamlavati Higher Secondary School, GOVT Girls High School, S.V.C.Elemantry school, Annamal matriculation school, Santhana Sama Middle School and 10 elemantry schools are situated here.
K.H.S.S:- CBSC based school K.H.S.S is with full English medium and other international languages (Kamlavati higher secondary school) is located in Sahupuram area-Arumuganeri. There are many schools located in various area's in Arumuganeri, This institution is run by DCW(Sahupuram-Arumuganeri) administration.
K.A.H.S.S:- Another biggest school in Arumuganeri with Tamil and English medium K.A.H.S.S(Kayalpattinam Arumuganeri Higher Scaondary School) This school is started in the purpose to spread relationship between kayalpattinam and Arumuganeri city(For spreading secularism between Hindus and Muslims also Christians, Its opened by Mr K.Kamaraj(Former Chief minister) in the year 1951. It's located in Peyanvilai area-Arumuganeri.
H.H.S.S:- The third biggest school in Arumuganeri is "Hindu School"(Hindu higher secondary school). This school is purely Tamil medium oriented school. Its located in center of Arumuganeri.
Still there are many matriculation schools as well as many nursery school running in Arumuganeri around various areas.
Cultivation
The major cultivation in Arumuganeri is rice. It is the only place where you can see the miracle of land with salt pan and rice field situated in opposite to each other. People of Arumuganeri receive the benefits of both of these landscape in both major climate conditions of long summer and rainfall. Hence this place always seen as green fields in outer area of city.

Arumuganeri consists of two railway stations(Arumuganeri, Kayalpattinam) Both stations are running inside Arumuganeri, People using any one which is close to them.

Medical facilities have well developed in Arumuganeri. There is a PHC run by Govt. is available here. There is a number of clinics present here, Biggest hospitals running around 24 hours a day is available here. Sundaram Nallathanmbi hospital(located in junction-Pallivashal) provides even surgery facility for some disorders like kidney etc. Dental hospitals also present here in main area. And also many private hospitals are located nearby.

DCW(Dharangadhara chemical works) is running in sahupuram area in Arumuganeri. This chemical company provides a huge job providence. It produces polymer and many chemical products etc. The company got quarters facility for higher officials and some employees working there. Its running by shift methodlogy.

Arumuganeri people mainly can make use of some entertain places close to them. Thangam talkies(Movie theatre), Beaches close to them(Kayal beach, Thiruchendur beach), Kamaraj Park etc., are some entertain spots.
Historical place
In center place:- Palli vasall-center heart of Arumuganeri(called as junction or centre place), consists of one mosque, which is somewhat more than 200 years(Approx) older. Hence the bazaar and bus stop named as palli vasall bus stop and palli vasall bazaar.
Culture and Food Habits
One of most practiced food culture commonly termed as Nadar cuisine in which along with mutton, prawn and potato, you get a taste of the tradition and the aspirations of an enterprising community in Tamil Nadu, the Nadars. To start with, a sip of pathanir ( juice from Palm Tree ) tells you about the past. Saalna, this ethnic version of stew has more than just mutton in it. It has a generous dose of history too. It's a testimony to the colonial impact on the community, whose fortunes improved in the 19th Century. Kanyakumari Meen varuval, Sigappi kozhi serppu, Sattampillai meen kozhambu, cauliflower kothu idiappam and vengaya serppu Manohari or sautéed potato mash, and vendakkai mayakkal that truly live up to their names along with Seeranis and jaggery based sweets. Since the Nadar community lives close to the sea, fish forms a major part of their diet and most of their dishes are tempered with fish fat. The appetizers — Kanya Kumari Meen Varuval, deep-fried seer fish marinated in cumin-fennel paste, and Sigappi Yeral Varuval, again marinated prawns fried in coconut oil are very famous.
Nadar families hold the secret to five authentic masalas which pep up the cuisine. The Nadar cuisine veers towards non-vegetarian and lamb is a favourite, present in everything except desserts. The native cuisine with its unique flavour that comes from usage of freshly hand-pounded spices, red meat and found with the spirit of innovation.
Much like the yin and yang from Chinese culinary tradition, one finds khus khus offset with coconut here. The spicy cuisine is typically accompanied with rice wine.
