Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned JQF by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.[3]
Because of the multiple race teams that base aircraft fleets at JQF and its close proximity to Charlotte Motor Speedway, the airport is sometimes referred to as "NASCAR's Airport."[4]
