Minamitane (南種子町 Minamitane-chō?) is a town located on the southern portion of Tanegashima (Tanega Island) in Kumage District, Kagoshima, Japan.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 6,997 and a density of 63.38 persons per km². The total area is 110.40 km².

The headquarters of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency are located at the Tanegashima Space Center in Minamitane.
