(1964)This article is about the Beach Boys song. For the Chic song, see Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah). For the Neil Young song, see Love Is a Rose."Dance, Dance, Dance" is a song written by Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band The Beach Boys. It was released on their 1965 album Today!. It was also released as a single in 1964, with the B-side of the single being "The Warmth of the Sun." The single peaked at #8 in the U.S. and #24 in the U.K. It was also #7 on Canada's national RPM chart, #6 in Sweden, and in France was their fourth song to place on the Jukebox chart.
Across the States, the single tended to be held out of the top five of regional playlists by a log-jam of British Invasion acts, and burst through to No. 1 only in Washington DC (WKMC), San Jose and Providence. It was #4 in San Francisco and Dallas.
The song was originally released in mono, while a remixed stereo version was released on the compilation Hawthorne, CA. An early version of the song, with different lyrics and arrangement, appears as a bonus track on the Today!/Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) two-fer CD. Wilson Phillips -- featuring Brian Wilson's daughters Carnie and Wendy -- covered the song for their album California.
In 2011, Big Time Rush covered Dance, Dance, Dance for their TV movie, "Big Time Beach Party".
