- Clarence Seroy
-
Clarence Seroy is a fictional character played by Emmanuel Yarborough on the HBO drama Oz.
Prisoner #02S243. Convicted March 24, 2002 - 40 counts of arson in the first degree. Sentence: 55 years, eligible for parole in 25.
Mostly in the background of Unit B throughout the series, he never really was introduced as a main or even supplemental character.
Season 5
Morbidly obese (Yarborough has weighed over 800 lbs.), and standing 6ft 8in, Seroy is incarcerated for arson and is not shown to be affiliated with any specific gang while in Oz. He first appears attempting to rape inmate Franklin Winthrop, but he is told to back off by the Aryan Brotherhood. The Aryans, led by Vernon Schillinger, do this only to make Winthrop their sex slave, also known as being a "prag". Seroy is then later hired by inmate Timmy Kirk to set up the burning of a Catholic church at which chaplain Father Ray Mukada resides. Seroy then informs Warden Leo Glynn, who threatens him with solitary confinement, that Kirk ordered the fire to be set.
Season 6
Seroy appears for a last time being framed for the murder of Harrison Beecher, the father of inmate Tobias Beecher. Seroy is found not guilty though as he is seen in Unit B for the remainder of the season. On the extended version of Oz's finale, "Exeunt Omnes" Seroy approaches Aryan inmate James Robson threatening to rape him. Robson however puts up no fight as he is pending a transfer to Unit F, the AIDS ward and knowingly infects Seroy with HIV by consenting to being sodomized by Seroy. He learns of this only as Robson is being transferred, however. He is transferred to Em City but causes tension with inmate Michael Bresnahan and was pushed out of his pod and fell on his back. He suffers a massive heart attack and later dies.
