established =Highway 18 is a short highway which begins northwest of Mayerthorpe at the junction of Highway 43 at the hamlet of Green Court. It proceeds east 8 km, crossing Highway 22 (which is the terminus for that highway) and reaches Highway 757. At this point it turns north for a few kilometres and bends east again until it crosses Highway 764 and turns north again.
The jog in the road skirts
Thunder Lake Provincial Park to the north. When the highway reaches Highway 655, it turns east to the town of Barrhead (66 km from the start) where it meets Highway 33. It travels north a few kilometres along Highway 33 and then turns east again leaving Highway 33.Along the way, it passes by the hamlet of Freedom, then crosses Highway 776 and Highway 777. It reaches Westlock at Highway 44 (103km from the start). It continues east crossing Highway 2 at Clyde (114 km from the start). The intersection with Highway 2 is known as "Clyde Corner". The highway goes through Thorhild as it crosses Highway 827 and proceeds west until it reaches Highway 63 where it ends.
