The Third U.S. Congressional District of Georgia represents a section of central-western Georgia. The district stretches from Columbus in the south to the southern edge of metro Atlanta in the north, including Fayette, Coweta, Henry, and Spalding counties.
The district is represented in the 110th Congress by Republican Lynn Westmoreland.
From 2003 to 2007, the 3rd was the Macon-area district; much of the territory now in the 3rd was in the 8th District. As a result of a mid-decade redistricting that took effect for the 110th Congress, the 3rd and the 8th essentially swapped district numbers.
