Patrick Aloysius Ewing, Jr. (born
May 20, 1984in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.) is an American basketballplayer for the New York Knicks. He is the son of retired NBAHall of Famer Patrick Ewing(who also played for the Knicks) and Sharon Campbell. He has three brothers and three sisters. He is 6'8" tall, weighs 240 pounds, and he plays the forward position.
He first attended Windward High School in
White Plains, New Yorkbefore going to Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, Marietta High School in Georgia, and National Christian Academy in Maryland. He signed with Indiana University on May 1, 2003. Following in his father's footsteps, he transferred in 2005 to Georgetown Universityin Washington, D.C.Under the NCAA transfer rules, Patrick Ewing, Jr., had to sit out the 2005-06 season.
In college, Ewing wore jersey number 33, like his father.
Alonzo Mourningwas last to use this number for Georgetown, and he reportedly had to get Mourning's permission before using it [cite web|title=JTIII Talks to D.C. Sports Bog|url=http://blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2006/10/jtiii_talks_to_us.html] .
In the 2007-08 season, he participated in the College

Ewing's coach at Georgetown,
John Thompson III, is the son of John Thompson, Jr., who coached the elder Ewing at Georgetown.
Ewing was chosen as the 43rd overall pick in the
2008 NBA Draftby the Sacramento Kings. He was traded to the Houston Rocketsalong with Sean Singletaryand Ron Artest, then traded in exchange for the rights of Frédéric Weisto New York Knicks.
After some initial speculation that he would wear his father's retired number 33, Ewing took number 6 in honor of his favorite player
