The school colors are royal blue, silver, and white and its mascot is the Blue Devil. Marietta High School's main rival schools are Harrison High School and McEachern High School.
Of the 21,786 public high schools examined by U.S. News and its partner in the project, School Evaluation Services, the magazine named MHS a bronze medal winner. Newsweek's 2009 list of America's Top Public High Schools named MHS one of the best high schools in the nation, ranking it among the Top 4% (868 out of the Top 1500) of all high schools in America for the fourth year in a row.

History
When Marietta City School district was established in 1892, there were two main high schools, Marietta High School (for white students) and Lemon Street High School (for black students). In the late 1960s, the Marietta City School System merged the two schools allowing all students in city of Marietta to attend Marietta High School. Marietta High School has had six locations in the City of Marietta over the past 100 years - Kennesaw Avenue, Waterman Street, Lemon Street, Winn Street, Haynes Street, and the current location, Whitlock Avenue.

Marietta is home to approximately 2,000 students. Within the student body, 42 nationalities are represented - 42% black, 39% white, 12% hispanic and 7% of another ethnicity.

- Classes meet for 90 minutes. There are two semesters in the August-May year. Credit is granted each semester independently of any other semester.

Band
The Marietta High School Marching Blue Devil Band is directed by David DuBose and David Dover. The Band program is currently serving 240 students in the facets of Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert and Beginning Bands as well as multiple percussion ensembles and Jazz Bands as well as the Marietta Marching Blue Devils. Only about 100 of the students in the program participate in the marching band program, but this part of the program has seen great success on the field. Todd Boyd is the Percussion instructor at Marietta and Josh Swain is the guard instructor.
The Band Program at the high school also houses the AP Music Theory Courses as well as a basic music theory class for Sophomores and a World Music Studies class. The band program is an integral part of the school's IB program and has seen scores above the World Average for the last 5 years.
The band program features the traditional annual Spectrum Concert in the spring in which all bands from grades 6-12 in the Marietta City Schools come together for one massed concert in the Marietta High School performance gym.
Sports
- Baseball[1] :Angels first round draft pick (30th overall) Chevez Clarke is an alumnus of the school. 2011 season saw the reemergence of MIFTUCCA in the program.
- Basketball: won state championships in 1983 and 1999.[2] Coach Charlie Hood has led the Blue Devils since 1972, accumulating over 700 wins (with only two losing seasons) and producing scores of college and professional players.[3][4]
- Cheerleading
- Cross Country: The boys team were region champions in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The girls came in 2nd place at the region championships in 2010.
- Football: The Marietta High School football team won the North Georgia championship in 1966-7 and the State championship in 1967-8 with several district and regional championships between 1921 and 2005.
- Golf: won the 1970 State Championship with a 5 foot putt made by Marietta High School Hall of famer Chuck Little to win the championship.

- Tennis: State Champions in 1990; 1980 Boys tennis team wins State Championship. In 1983 Lyn Huffstutler and Kelly Townsend won the girls 5AAAA region doubles tennis championship.
- Track and Field: The team won the boys' state championship in 2006 and was runner-up in 2005 and 2007. They also had state championship wins in 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2008. Shadi Dix was the 110 hurdles State Champ in 2005.
- Volleyball
- Wrestling: 1979 Marietta had Junior Nelson Foster as Region Champion at 101 lbs. 1980 Wrestling team was one of the most successful in school history, even leading eventual state champion Sprayberry in the region tournament after first day.
