School Rivalry

Etowah's main county rival is Woodstock High School, which is located not even a mile away from the school. The rivalry has grown between the two Woodstock, Georgia schools in the past two seasons. In July 2006, Etowah fans spraypainted the newly paved road at Woodstock in the school colors, reading in profanity and capping it off with "EHS 07". The week of a football game between the two schools on September 15, 2006, Etowah fans spraypainted the players exit at Woodstock, also referred to as the "woodshed", in the schools colors. Etowah would wind up losing the game in an epic 29-23 triple overtime game, although in the first overtime, Etowah scored to tie the game 16-16, and kicker Omar Lopez kicked an extra point that appeared to be good, and the eagles fan bench was celebrating, but after a referee argument, the kick was ruled "no good", and that caused Woodstock to move on to victory. A season later, Woodstock spraypainted "WHS Seniors '08" on the side of an Etowah school building at the beginning of the 2007-08 school year. It was finally washed off in January of 2008. Etowah would get their revenge, defeating their rival 16-0 at Eagle Stadium. Out of the eight football matchups played between the schools, they each have won 4 games, an even split in the series. Then on September 26, 2008 Etowah beat Woodstock 14-7, winning the county and giving Etowah a 5-0 start to its season. This also gave Etowah the head of the series between the two schools 5-4. This rivalry has been immortalized in the F90 song, "Woodstock, Etowah". F90 will be performing this song at halftime in the rivalry game on September 26, 2008. Before this game Woodstock spraypainted Etowah's eagle statue on their field.

"Remember the Titans"

The Etowah High School football field was one of the filming spots for the 2000 Disney film, "Remember the Titans", including the state championship scene where TC Williams defeats Marshall.
