(operated by WGBH Educational Foundation)Webcast Listen Live Website www.classicalnewengland.org WNCK (89.5 FM) is a classical music radio station, licensed to Nantucket, Massachusetts, USA, and serving the Cape Cod area. The station is currently owned by Nantucket Public Radio Inc.[1][2]
It simulcasts programming from Boston's WCRB. WNCK formerly had translators at 93.9 in Hyannis, MA which recently taken over by religious broadcaster WRYP .
Apart from being programmed by the WGBH Educational Foundation, which owns WCRB, WNCK is not connected with WCAI, WNAN, and WZAI, the WGBH-owned and operated Cape and Islands NPR stations.
Previously, WNCK was a simulcast of WGBH's primary radio service, offering a mixed-format of classical, jazz, folk, blues, Celtic music, and news. Upon the completion of WGBH's acquisition of WCRB on December 1, 2009, WNCK switched its programming source to that station in an effort to improve WCRB's signal. (Concurrent with the acquisition, WGBH's own classical music programming, as well as the folk and blues programming, were replaced with increased news programming, essentially rendering the simulcast on WNCK largely redundant to WCAI, specifically the WNAN transmitter.)[3]
