The Corps of North Carolina Light Dragoons was raised on April 13, 1775 at Wilmington, North Carolina as a state militia unit and later for service with the Continental Army. The regiment saw action at the Battle of Brandywine and the Battle of Germantown. The regiment was disbanded on January 1, 1779 at Halifax, North Carolina and Fort Pitt.
