- Chak (village)
-
Chak is an Urdu word, which means village. In the Punjab province of Pakistan, numbers are using instead of names. The villages are named using a certain nomenclature that dates back to British Rule, all names are prefixed "Chak" followed by a number and a letter. The number is the name of the village and the letter indicates how much water the village uses.
For example in Sadiqabad the villages use water from a canal for agriculture - these villages are suffixed either with P or NP depending on whether the village uses water for the whole year (P) or for part of the year (NP). The P stands for Punjnad.
In Sadiqabad there are many chaks, some of these include:
- Sadiqabad Chak 130P
- Sadiqabad Chak 151P
- Sadiqabad Chak 152P
- Sadiqabad Chak 164NP
- Sadiqabad Chak 173P
- chak 445 G.B. thagganwali
- Chak 127 JB BhattiWalla
