History of Manglas
In thearly 1900s, the British government, in order to drive rebels (like Dulla Bhatti) out of the jungles of Punjab, decided to open Sargodha, Loyalpure (now Faisalabad) and Montgomery (now Sahiwal) area for farming and residence. Sir Loyal and his Engineers came up with the whole plan of various villages and instead of giving them typical names the team chose to number them according to their location from water streams derived from the Jehlum River.
Tribe of Mangla was selected to reside in two villages or Check(points) or Chaks: Chak No. 168 and 171. Tribe chiefs requested local governments to let them live in a same village. So some changes were made to the maps and they let it be Chak 168/171. Later known as Chak Mangla.
People of Chak Mangla
The old name of chak mangla was "Rasul Pur" The Mangla (tribe) are the sons of the infamous companion of Hindu Lord Krishna Murlidhar, Raja Hanumaan. In 19th century, one of the princes left south India and started living in Sargodha part of the Punjab. His family depended on export/import wheat, cotton from Punjab to Delhi and Kashmir. In Mid-19th Century Mangal Das became Muslim and was named Khairuddin. His ex-friends and family started calling the Mangla out of hate. (Mangla is a devi/queens attributed to wealth in theHindu religion). Khairuddin wore this name Mangla as a badge of honour, being proud of his new religion thus the new tribe of Mangla started. Most of the Mangla tribe migrated to Chak Mangla but there are some Mangla's still living in other parts of Punjab (sahiwaal etc.).
In Chak Mangla, every head of the family was awarded 2 km square. Later other Non-Mangla's, obvious dependent to Mangla tribe started migrating to Chak Mangla as well.
Now a day there are majority of migrated people called Muhajir (Rajpot family). Ecomically and socially Rajpot families are so forward. Most people of Rajpot amilies had joined PAF.Government High School Chak #168/171 N.B, is working with great struggle producing and promoting local talent.
