Mariposa, Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Mariposa is a master-planned community that is located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, in the United States. It encompasses 6,500 acres (2,600 ha) of land annexed by the City of Rio Rancho. High Desert Investment Corporation is the primary developer of Mariposa.

Layout

Mariposa East is the first phase of the 6,500-acre (2,600 ha) development breaking ground in 2007. In approximately 1,500 acres (610 ha), 1700 residential units will be built. Broadband fiber to the homes and newly completed 12,000 sq ft (1,100 m2) Mariposa Community Center including indoor and outdoor swimming pools with stunning views of the Jemez, Sandia and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges make Mariposa unique.

Mariposa West will be the second phase of the project. In approximately 3,000 acres (1,200 ha) it will hold 5000 units. Additionally, Mariposa West will have considerable commercial space.

The master planned community has a great deal of open space, 10 mi (16 km) of hiking and biking trails, neighborhood parks, the Mariposa Preserve, a 2,300 acres (930 ha) tract which is located north of Mariposa East.
