It serves the Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail Line. Amtrak does not stop here, thus the station is only served by SEPTA. The station is officially listed as being located at 4th Street & Colwyn Avenue (incorrectly listed by SEPTA as Colwyn Street), but the only access to the station is from 5th and Pine Streets. Access to 4th Street from the station is only available from a staricase down an embankment to the dead end at Pine Street.
Darby originally had two other railroad stations. One of them was owned by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (now the Philadelphia Subdivision of CSX) and was located at Main and Sixth Streets,[1] where the SEPTA Route 11 trolley crosses today, and the other was owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad and was located where the current station stands, and later across the tracks.[2]
The current Darby station lies southeast of the Darby Transportation Center, a SEPTA bus and trolley terminal designed for the terminus of Routes 11 and 13 of the SEPTA Subway–Surface Trolley Lines. Currently, no connections are available between the two stations.
