The Shire of Moora is a Local Government Area in the northern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, and generally lies between the Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway about convert|180|km|mi|0 north of Perth, the state capital. The Shire covers an area of convert|3767|km2|sqmi|0 and its seat of government is the town of Moora.

History

In 1908, the Moora Road Board was gazetted out of land from Victoria Plains. On 1 July 1961, it became the Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act. [WA Electoral Commission, "Municipality Boundary Amendments Register" (release 2.0), 31 May 2003.]
