Marci Ien is a Canadian broadcast journalist. Born in Toronto, Ontario on July 29, 1969, Ien currently works as the host of Canada AM Early Edition and is the news anchor for CTV's Canada AM. She is also a regular substitute host on Canada AM, and the CTV National News.
Originally one of the children on the Crossroads program Circle Square, Ien began her career at CHCH in Hamilton, Ontario in 1991 as a news writer and general assignment reporter. In 1995, she began reporting from Queen's Park in Toronto. In 1997, she moved to CTV where she made her national debut at CTV Atlantic, covering major stories including the crash of Swissair Flight 111 off Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia.
In 2008, Ien was the recipient of the BBPA Harry Jerome Award in the media category. In 1995, she won a(Canadian Radio Television News Directors) for her news serial, Journey to Freedom a look at the Underground Railroad.
Ien is a Black Canadian of West Indian descent.
Marci Ien is also the aunt of child actor Sari Williams, who has starred in several national commercials.
