Oswin Harvard Gibbs-Smith[1] was Dean of Winchester in the third quarter of the 20th century [2].
He was born on 15 November 1901 and educated at Westminster and Clare College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1925, after a short spell as an Assistant Master at Harrow he began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Margaret’s, Ilkley. Following this he was Vicar of John Keble Church, Mill Hill[3], Rector of Christchurch, St Marylebone[4], Archdeacon of London and a Canon Residentiary of St Paul’s Cathedral before his elevation to the Deanery.Notes
