Orrisdale North (Old Norse Haeringsstadr or Haering's farm) [1] is situated adjacent the 16th Milestone road-side marker on the Snaefell Mountain Course on the primary A3 Castletown to Ramsey road with the nearby junction with the tertiary C19 Orrisdale Loop Road and D13 Bollyn Road in the parish of Ballaugh in the Isle of Man.
Orrisdale North and the former Orrisdale South (now known as Rhencullen including Birkin's Bend) and the nearby Bishopscourt Manse were part of the Highland Course and Four Inch Course used for the Gordon Bennett Trial and Tourist Trophy automobile car races held in the Isle of Man between 1904 and 1922.[2] Orrisdale North is part of the Snaefell Mountain Course used since 1911 for the Isle of Man TT and from 1923 for the Manx Grand Prix Races.
The musician Jake Drake-Brockman, a former member with the Liverpool group Echo & the Bunnymen, was involved in a fatal road traffic accident at Orrisdale North on 1 September 2009 while visiting the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix when the vintage BSA motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a converted ambulance.[3]
