Ormiston Venture Academy

Ormiston Venture Academy

Ormiston Venture Academy (as of September 2010) is situated in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.

Originally named Oriel Grammar School, it was opened in 1954 to serve the Magdalen Estate. It has gone through many different names, including the Oriel Specialist Maths and Computing College. In 2008, the school hauled through a complete makeover, including an entirely new block, a sports hall and a revamp of the original classrooms and corridors.[citation needed] However, due to funding problems some of the classrooms are still awaiting completion and remain in their original state.[when?]

The current principal (in 2011) is Nicole Mcartney.[1] The Academy has been refitted with new computers, a new reception and more staff. The school has managed to secure £8.1 Million and the new build is expected by 2015.

Alumni

  • Ian Hughes (epredator), technology evangelist and television presenter
  • Mark Sparham, facilitating file technician at the James Paget Hospital
