Ondřej Hejma (born on February 3, 1951 in Prague) is a singer-composer in Žlutý pes band, a journalist, TV presenter and occasionally a translator.

Biography

Ondřej Hejma started studying English and Chinese philology at Faculty of Arts on Charles University in Prague after graduating from high school. After university he worked as a copywriter in an advertising agency. In 1987 he became a reporter of AP agency. He is married, his wife Vladimíra is a doctor. They have two children, son Jan and daughter Tereza. He lives in Řevnice. His hobbies include travel and golf. In his youth, he played football. He is a known sympathizer of political party ODS and football club Sparta Prague.

Music

In 1960s after graduation he founded a blues band Žízeň together with Jan Foll, then he was a member of the Yo-Yo Band and of the Combo FH band. In 1978 he founded the Žlutý pes band. He has written many lyrics for this band's songs and also for other Czech singers. He was a co-producer of libretto in the Czech version of Hamlet musical.

TV, radio and press career

He is or was active in TV3 (hosting Bez kravaty program), in radio Frekvence 1 (hosting Press klub program) and in Reflex magazine (Psí život section). In TV Nova he hosted the Czech version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? called Chcete být milionářem?. He was also a juror in the first and third series of Česko hledá SuperStar program. He has declined to be a juror in the second series because of financial problems.
