United KingdomOGAE Second Chance Contest 1988► The 1987 OGAE Second Chance Contest was the 1st OGAE Second Chance Contest, organised between members of international Eurovision Song Contest fan club OGAE to select the best song not to make it to the Eurovision Song Contest through their national finals. Four countries competed in the first contest - the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom - and each country selected two songs to compete in the contest. this was the first and only time that each country submitted two songs to the contest (much in the same way as the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956).[1]
The contest was held in Huizen, the Netherlands, and organised by the Dutch branch of OGAE. The first ever winner was Sweden's Arja Saijonmaa with "Högt över havet", which originally came second in the Swedish national final, Melodifestivalen 1987. Second place went to Norway's Kjersti Bergesen, and Marcha from the Netherlands got 3rd.
