Nalwa

Nalwa

Nalwa is newly carved out constituency in the state of Haryana in 2008 delimitation exercise. Earlier, most of the villages of this constituency were under Adampur, a stronghold of Bhajan Lal. Some of the villages were earlier with Bawani Khera Constituency.

Nalwa is a small village on Tosham-Hisar road, just 8 km from Tosham. Nalwa village is also famous as this is native village of Late sh O. P. Jindal, a famous industrialist from the area. His son Naveen Jindal is Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra Haryana.

Nalwa constituency is currently represented by a renowned ex minister of Haryana and senior congress leader Professor Sampat Singh in Haryana State Assembly. Professor Sampat Singh won Oct 2009 elections with a margin of 10901 votes from this constituency. He defeated Smt Jasma Devi of Haryana Janhit Congress. Jasma Devi is wife of Bhajan Lal and this was first defeat of Bhajanlal clan in Haryana state politics. This defeat led to the downfall of Bhajanlal's Haryana Janhit Congress in literal terms as just after winning, five out of total six MLAs of Haryana Janhit Congress left HJC and joined Congress.
