Port Hope, Ontario is served byVIA Rail trains running fromToronto to Kingston, Ottawa and Montréal. The station is unstaffed, but has a heated waiting room, pay telephone, washrooms, free outdoor parking, andwheelchair access to the station.The station was built by the
Grand Trunk Railway in 1856. Service began on October 27, 1856, with the completion of the GTR's Montreal - Toronto main line. The station has been in continuous use since that date. Ownership of the station passed to theCanadian National Railway s in 1923, when the GTR was merged into the CNR. Passenger service has been provided by VIA Rail since 1978. It was designated as a heritage railway station by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board ofParks Canada in 1992.External links
