History
The program debuted on 28 October 2002 on the Nine Network to compete against Network Ten's Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton. The show began as a one hour program airing from 9:30 am to 10:30 am five days a week. In the program's second season in 2003, the show progressed to an hour and a half airing from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. After the network's decision to rest Here's Humphrey which had been broadcast since 1965, the show began its third season as a two hour program airing 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Mornings proved to be a success against GMA and by the end of 2005, Newton announced that he would be returning to Nine. As a result, Network Ten cancelled the program and replaced it with 9am with David and Kim at the start of the 2006 television season. The Seven Network saw the success that its competitors were having with the morning show format and as such created The Morning Show which began in June 2007. This meant that all three commercial stations from 9:00 am to 11:00 am now air their own morning show.
However this has now changed in 2010, were Kerri-Anne only goes up against the Seven Network's The Morning Show for the first hour after a re-shuffle of Network Ten's programing. Network Ten's programing shift came after 9am with David and Kim was axed and replaced by Ten Morning News hour at 9am, then following is their new morning show, The Circle at 10am.
The program covers a variety of issues and features interviews, music, lifestyle and societal commentary. Jamie Malcolm often appears on the show, presenting some of the infotainments and being a sidekick to Kennerley. Nine News updates are presented by Wendy Kingston (Mon-Thurs) and Alicia Gorey (Friday) throughout the program.
In 2010, Nine announced that the show would be renamed from Mornings with Kerri-Anne to just Kerri-Anne this is a part of the shows makeover. The makeover consisted of a brand new set, new graphics and more variety within the program consisting of more news and entertainment. Also within the makeover Kerri-Anne a new producer took over being Kerri Elstub who was formally producer for Weekend Today. This shift also saw the program share the studio with Nine's breakfast TV program Today. In February 2010, it was also announced that a highlight show will air on Saturdays from 9-10am, showing the best bits of the week.
Amanda Keller, Brendan Jones, Catriona Rowntree, Sophie Falkiner, Nicky Buckley, Shelley Craft, Mia Freedman, Livinia Nixon, Jamie Malcolm and Steven Jacobs have all filled in for Kerri-Anne if she is sick or away.
