Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves

Johann Mickl (18 April 1893 – 10 April 1945) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II, and one of only 882 recipients of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Born in Zenkovci (Hungary, today Prekmurje, Slovenia) in prekmurian-German family. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Johann Mickl was wounded by Yugoslav Partisans on 9 April 1945 and died on 10 April 1945 in Rijeka, Croatia
