- Mickle Island
-
Mickle Island (77°34′S 166°13′E / 77.567°S 166.217°E) is a very small island 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) southeast of Flagstaff Point, close off the west side of Ross Island. Charted and so named by the British Antarctic Expedition led by Shackleton, 1907-09. The name appears to be capricious or whimsical, mickle meaning "great."
