He sailed with the "U-6", "U-60", "U-121", "U-201" and U-2511, sinking twenty-one ships on seven patrols, for a total of 90.847 tons of Allied shipping.In September 1944 he took over the command of the new "Elektroboot" "U-2511", the first Type XXI U-boat to go on patrol. On this patrol in the last days of the war, in the hours immediately after the cease-fire orders on
