Mexico - Spain relations
Mexico
SpainMexican-Spanish relations refers to interstate relations between United Mexican States and the Kingdom of Spain. Just like other Latin American nations, Mexico has a strong relationship with Spain. Though the relationship is currently close and warm, it's also a changing relationship. Mexico currently has an embassy in Madrid and a consulate-general in Barcelona. Spain has an embassy in Mexico City and two consulates-general in the country; in Guadalajara and in Monterrey.
Spanish Civil War
During the Spanish Civil War, Mexican volunteers joined the Republican side to fight Francisco Franco. Though the Republicans had lost the war, this helped improve the relationship between the two countries. Also, many Spanish émigrés immigrated to Mexico to escape the Spanish Civil War.
Other
Both countries' relationship is also based on cultural similarity.
