As there were not enough men for a tournament fit for eight, two of the men received byes through to the semi finals. The gold medal match was won by Belarusian Siarhei Budo who defeated Russia's Stanislav Ushakov by unanimous decision. The bronze medal positions were filled by defeated semi finalists Aleksandar Jankovic from Serbia and Montenegro and Vahidin Tufekcic from Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1]
