The Terrapins compete as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Historically, Maryland has not been a strong baseball program,[1] and the team has not made an NCAA tournament appearance since 1971. They have qualified and participated in a total of three NCAA tournaments: 1965, 1970, and 1971. Each of those seasons, the Terrapins won the ACC championship. Maryland also won the 1936 Southern Conference championship when they played in that league.[2]
