The Robert H. Smith School of Business is a school of business management within the
University of Maryland, College Park . The school was named after alumnusRobert H. Smith (Accounting 1950), following his generous donation of $15 million in 1998. One of 13 colleges and schools at the university's main campus, the Smith School offers programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, includingbachelor's degree s, full-time and part-timemaster of business administration (M.B.A.) degrees, Executive M.B.A. degrees,Ph.D. s, and executive education outreach programs to the corporate community. In 2006, The
Robert H. Smith School of Business at theUniversity of Maryland, College Park announced a $12 million PhD program initiative that will significantly enhance the school’s ability to retain and attract the world’s best and brightest students. The initiative — one of the most ambitious in theUnited States — increases annual doctoral stipends by 45 percent to $32,500 and provides research and travel support.The School is in a midst of an ongoing capital campaign to raise $90 million by 2012.
