The airport is owned and operated by Markham Airport Inc. and owned by a numbered Ontario company owned by the Thomson family of Toronto. The airport is not part of the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. The airport consists of a single 2,013 ft (614 m) runway for small and private aircraft only (with night flying capabilities). The Royal Canadian Air Cadets Gliding Program uses the north side or the runway 09/27 for glider operations in the spring and fall months, and use a northern traffic pattern.[2]

There are plans for a 4,000 foot runway, but it would require approval as the runway would require additional land and airspace belonging to the Greater Toronto Airport Authority's Pickering Airport.

Facilities
There are eight structures located at the entrance of the airfield. Most are trailer home type of structures. Some structures are classrooms used by tenant flight school Canadian Flyer International.
The airport tarmac is also home to a few aircraft from the defunct Canadian Air, Land and Sea Museum. They were formerly used by the Canadian Forces:

- CF-104 Starfighter (Various Airforces)
- Canadair CL-13 Sabre
- Schweizer SGS 2-33A Royal Canadian Air Cadets[citation needed]
Most of the aircraft are missing pieces and lie on the south side of the runway in grass strip.
