Mário Lúcio Costa Duarte (Pouso Alegre, November 17, 1980) is a footballer from Brazil playing as a Goalkeeper.

Career

Aranha, as he is known professionally, graduated from the Ponte Preta. The nickname came about through his coach Ailton Custodio, at the time in Aranha trained soccer school in his hometown of Pouso Alegre. Emerged as a reference to the Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin, known as Black Spider by clothes he wore and his great defenses.^[1]

In 2008 Aranha was named best goalkeeper of the São Paulo State Championship. Ponte Preta played the final against the Palmeiras but lost. Because of this Aranha received many offers from other clubs but decided to stay in Ponte Preta. His contract with the team of Campinas was renewed for three years, but several clubs continure to probe it. On May 26 of 2009, the Atlético Mineiro ended up closing agreement with the Ponte Preta in negotiating the Goalkeeper.^[2]
