Duplicate Annihilator is a shareware iPhoto duplicate detection application for Mac OS X, developed by Brattoo Propaganda Software. Duplicate Annihilator is also available in a version for Aperture 3 by Apple Inc..

Concept

Duplicate Annihilator is used to compare images and locate duplicates in iPhoto. Duplicate Annihilator differs from many of it competitors since it also updates the iPhoto library data base instead of removing only the found duplicates from the file system. iPhoto stores its data, meta data and images in both a Finder package and an SQL data base and it is very important that they are updated simultaneously to avoid defective iPhoto libraries and even data loss. Duplicate Annihilator handles this and integrates with iPhoto to make sure that this is done the "iPhoto way".
