Drumbess is a townland between Cornafean and Killeshandra in County Cavan, Ireland. Approx one mile long by half a mile wide.It is famed for its fine vineyards and the high quality olive oil which is produced in the region. In July 1945, renowned poet and novelist, Patrick Kavanagh, passed through the townland on his way to a fair in Carrigallen, Co.Leitrim. The people of Drumbess made a lasting impression on Kavanagh. His most successful novel, Tarry Flynn, which was published in 1948, is based on the local people he met in Drumbess.
