Ballyhaise (Irish place name|Béal Átha hÉis|Entrance to the Ford of the Rapid water) is a village in
County Cavan , Ireland. It is situated some 7 km (4.5 miles) north-northeast ofCavan Town .General Information
The village of Ballyhaise is located within the parish of Castletara and contains both
Roman Catholic andChurch of Ireland churches. The village itself is home to Ballyhaise GFC, the localGaelic football team, their home pitch being Annalee Park, the biggest Gaelic football pitch in County Cavanfact|date=November 2007. In addition to this the village was for many years home to Castletara Youth Band - an accordion marching band which won multiple All-Ireland titles in the late 1990s and early 21st century.Buildings of note
Ballyhaise House was built for the Newburghs, a local landowning family, in the 1730s. Its architect was
Richard Cassels , a German living inDublin , who designed many of the capital's finest buildings and squares (includingLeinster House ). Ballyhaise House has been used as an agricultural college since the beginning of the 20th century. The bridge near the house is reputed to be nearly 300 years old.Ballyhaise Market House is a five bay, two storey building.

Ballyhaise railway station opened on
